About The Chamber - WWCC History

The West Wales Chamber of Commerce is a member of the British Chamber of Commerce and as part of the South Wales Chamber Group (Cardiff, Newport and West Wales Chamber of Commerce) is one of 65 Accredited Chambers in the UK.

As an accredited Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s work is assessed regularly by the British Chambers of Commerce to ensure that it delivers a high quality of service and a comprehensive range of activities.

Whether you are just starting up, or an established business – services, support and networking are essential elements to your success. Membership of the West Wales Chamber of Commerce provides all this.

The strength of the membership and the range of services make the West Wales Chamber of Commerce the most effective independent business support organisation in South West Wales. Unlike other organisations, wherever you go in the world the name Chamber of Commerce is recognised and valued.

Established in 1846, as the Swansea Chamber of Commerce – the Chamber merged with the Neath Briton Ferry and Port Talbot Chambers in 1991 and changed its name to West Wales Chamber of Commerce – like all long standing organisations the Chamber owes its survival to its ability to adapt and change. It is the leading SME network in South West Wales covering the local authority administrative areas of Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembroke.

Within this area there is a population of over 650,000, a quarter of the population of Wales and more than 16,000 VAT registered businesses. The Chamber has some 300 members including many of the largest employers and major manufacturing firms in the area.
